Travel Tips

Banff is roughly one hour and thirty minutes from Calgary International Airport. There are frequent shuttles and busses, and rental cars can be obtained at the airport.

For those travelling from outside Canada, Calgary International Airport has daily direct flights to and from Europe (Heathrow and Frankfurt) and the numerous cities in the United States. Please see the Calgary Airport
web page for details. For those travelling from Asia you can fly to Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles or several other major western cities, and from any of those directly to Calgary. Travelers from South America should fly to Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, or Toronto and from any of those direct to Calgary.

Please note that the meeting is being held in the winter in the Alberta Rockies. The weather will likely be cold, and there will almost certainly be snow. Please bring appropriate clothing to ensure that you can really enjoy your time in Canada. As well, remember that the weather in the Rockies is variable, and anything is possible. You can get information about the region and the weather you should expect on the Banff National Park web page.

Finally, we want everyone to have a safe visit to Canada. Particularly if you are renting a car, be aware of the road conditions.
